Thor Motorcoach Challenger 37KT

La Mariposa

Mariposa - Mariposa is my new, at least to me motorhome. Late December 2022 on of my besties, Kari, will be heading East to Charleston, South Carolina to pick her  up from Best Pre-Owned RV’s of South Carolina.

We have named the new motorhome Mariposa. She was manufactured by Thor Motor Coach, and she is a 2019 Thor Motor Coach Challenger Series M-37KT with just under 12,000 miles on it.  Mariposa is not my first class A Motorhome. Back in 2016, after purchasing a cabin in Christopher Creek, Arizona, youngest son, Grahm and a crew of his friends drove to  San Diego and I purchased a Vintage Airstream Motorhome. It was a 1978 Argosy Shuttlebus Conversion, a prototype, truly one of a kind that I lived in while re-building the Ashby Apple cabin. After the cabin was complete  the boys and their friends would flip coins to see who would get to stay in her.  When I sold the Ashby Apple Cabin, She, the Airstream stay with the cabin to be enjoyed by the new family and their boys.

The Original Plan

The original plan, was to purchase a Class B Camper Van.... Stealthy, with four-wheel drive, Solar power and travel the USA and Mexico Incognito. Not sure whether it was me fainting after seeing their insane prices, or my friends and family convincing me that Quinn, my Idaho Shag, and I would kill each other in such a small space, that the plan changed and we began searching the country for a DynamaxCclass C Isata 3 Motorhome. The Isata was, I thought, just right. Not to big, right at 25 feet, super reliable and it is built on the fuel-efficient Mercedes Sprinter platform.

So What Happend...

So what happened to the Isata 3 you ask? Well, the Scottsdale RV Show at Westworld happened. Having arrived home from Cabo late on a Saturday afternoon, I woke up Sunday morning to a pop up ad on Facebook for an RV Show. So I dragged one of my besties, Maria, up to West World for the last day of the Indoor RV Show. I was only at the show to look at the class “C” motorhomes, but Maria, Maria was zipping in and out of every make and model there 😊 and then there in one of the long rows of class “A” motorhomes was the Thor Challenger 37KT.

Well then it happened, Maria went in but Maria didn’t come out, so I reluctantly followed her inside a Huge Class A Motorhome. It was then I discovered the Thor Challenger 37KT was no ordinary motorhome. Unlike most motorhomes even the ones with the million dollar price tags, it was truly a home.
