StayDuvet - Charleston, SC
We flew in to Charleston on December 28, 2022 the day before we were to pick up the Mariposa. While in Charleston, we had the pleasure of staying in one of
StayDuvet's Awesome locations, but as almost always with us, and especially this day (will link a post about our flights as soon as it's done) not without a wee bit of excitement.
First, we showed up a bit early (about an hour) parked in the parking lot across the street and proceeded to the house. Once we figured out the multiple entry doors, and lock boxes, we entered what appeared to be last nights bachelor party palace! Towels Strone throughout, a pair of Furry White, Very High, Very Heels on the living room floor, leading Kari and I to begin the "Hello, is anyone here" chant, quickly backing out the door, replacing the keys, and returning quickly to the car leaving no evidence of our arrival.
We called to confirm the check in time, and realized we were an hour early. Then from our rental car in the parking lot watched as a shrew of cleaning women came out almost every house on the block justling over to "our place" and fast as they arrived, they departed and we were told we could "check-in". It was amazing that in no time at all the house was spotless, fabulous bedding, decor and accessories and absolutely no evidence of the previous, tenants adventures and yes, we got to have our own private / designated parking space.
We were told the parking space was for a compact car, and that's what are car rental contract said we thought we were good to go and proceeded to our private parking space. Well, if we had rented a Smart Car, we would have rocked it, but you guessed it, we did not!
If became immediately clear that it was going to be at best tight, Karie hopped out knowing that both of us getting out via doors would be impossible and began to direct me in. Thank goodness the mirrors turned in, otherwise we would have fit. To Karie's inquiry on how the heck was I going to get out, I replied, no worries, I'll hop in the back seat and then climb out the trunk, you are correct to assume that would not be the first time I have exited a car in that manner.
Well as you can tell from the video, that was NOT what happened! When I put the car into park, there was literally 2 inches on the drivers side and on the passenger side, well you can see in the video not much more. Although my hop into the backseat was successful, there was any latches to lower either side, hence my reluctance and desperation to exit the rear passenger side, which was, while hilarious to Karie (me too actually) no easy feat.
Upon opening the trunk, to our great surprise, Waaaaahlaaaaa, the latch or should I say latches to lower the back seats appeared. Of course, the next morning, Karie enjoyed documenting, for future, blackmail opportunities my entrance or should I say my crawl back into the car through the trunk... gotta love the Tie Die Crocs! Needless to say my entrance into the rental car was almost, but not quite as funny, as my exit.
